Dougray Scott Returns in Screen Adaptation of Irvine Welsh’s Crime

ITVX has unveiled the cast for the hotly anticipated second series of Crime, the gritty psychological thriller adapted by Irvine Welsh and Dean Cavanagh.

The six-part drama is currently filming in Scotland and will stream exclusively on ITV’s new free service, ITVX. Produced by Buccaneer (Marcella, The Burning Girls) and Off Grid Film and TV, the show promises to bring more dark twists and tense police work.

Star-Studded Scottish Cast & New Faces

Dougray Scott, famed for Mission Impossible 2 and My Week with Marilyn, returns as the troubled DI Ray Lennox. His powerful performance in Season 1 earned him an International Emmy nod for Best Actor.

Season Two: Darker Mysteries in Edinburgh’s Underbelly

Ray Lennox is back at 1 Serious Crimes, eager to prove he’s fully recovered from his earlier breakdown. But the force has changed. Bob Toal’s lost his edge, Amanda Drummond has been promoted, and new detectives Tommy Stark and Norrie Erskine shake things up.

When a former colleague is viciously attacked, Lennox and Drummond dive into a twisted web of vengeance, identity, and social justice. Their investigation takes them from Edinburgh’s crack dens to posh hotels hiding deadly secrets. A high-ranking official’s attempted murder has been swept under the carpet by the Establishment.

As the killer targets Lennox’s own team, chilling links to a 30-year-old scandal surface. Lennox soon suspects the killer he’s chasing is not the puppet master behind the murders.
