Man Arrested After EasyJet Flight Declares Emergency at Glasgow Airport
A 41-year-old man was hauled off an EasyJet flight this morning after causing a disruption onboard. Police were on hand at Glasgow Airport after Flight EZY609 triggered a rare emergency alert just before landing.
Emergency Squawk Sparks Alarm
Flight EZY609, an Airbus A319 (registration G-EZAN), was flying from Luton to Glasgow when pilots suddenly issued a 7700 emergency squawk code — the international distress signal indicating a serious in-flight emergency. The alert came just minutes before the plane touched down at around 8.20am.
After landing, the plane was guided to a remote stand where Police Scotland boarded and swiftly removed the troublesome passenger.

EasyJet Praise Crew for Quick Action
“Flight EZY609 from Luton to Glasgow this morning was met by police on arrival in Glasgow, where they boarded the aircraft and removed a passenger due to their behaviour onboard,” EasyJet said in a statement.
“easyJet’s crew are trained to assess all situations and act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other customers is not compromised at any time. The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is always easyJet’s highest priority.”
The flight continued to disembark normally after the incident was dealt with.
Glasgow Airport Operations Unaffected
The 7700 emergency code is reserved for serious incidents requiring immediate help. Flight tracking sites spotted the alert, causing speculation online before police confirmed the situation.
Despite the drama, no delays or disruption to other flights at Glasgow Airport were reported.
