Explosion Alert in Gravesend Sparks Emergency Response

Kent fire crews and police were scrambled to Gravesend after a 999 call reported an explosion. Two fire engines and officers raced to Medhurst Gardens just before 10pm on Monday night.

Search Finds No Sign of Blast

Firefighters have since been stood down after finding no visible evidence of an explosion. However, two Kent Police officers are now conducting a door-to-door search to establish what — if anything — actually happened.

Cause Remains Unclear, Hoax Possible

The true cause of the alarm is still unknown. One local, speaking anonymously, told us police had already been in the area earlier that evening. The arrival of fire crews followed soon after.

Residents Questioned After Alarms Sound

Officers spoke to several residents drawn outside by the flashing blue lights, asking if they’d heard or seen anything unusual on Medhurst Gardens. The emergency teams were initially called due to reports of a mysterious explosion.

Kent Fire & Rescue and Kent Police have been approached for comment but have yet to respond.
