Families Outraged After Police Share Gruesome WhatsApp Messages

The families of the victims in the horrific Nottingham triple stabbing are left “sickened” after learning police officers exchanged disturbing details of their loved ones’ injuries on WhatsApp.

Shocking Messages Revealed at Gross Misconduct Tribunal

An officer reportedly shared graphic descriptions of the wounds suffered by Grace O’Malley-Kumar, Barnaby Webber, and Ian Coates — all fatally stabbed by Valdo Calocane — via an encrypted WhatsApp group. PC Matthew Gell is said to have circulated the gruesome details with his wife and a friend, alongside sensitive operational information about the police response.

Bereaved Families Condemn ‘Needless Voyeurism’

“What an abhorrent way to conduct an investigation,” said Emma Webber, mother of slain teen Barnaby. “We cannot emphasize how painful this tragedy is. To learn there has been internal needless voyeurism of the vicious knife attacks on our loved ones is unforgivable.”

Emma spoke on behalf of all three families, expressing deep disgust at the officers’ behaviour.

Calls for Accountability From Top Officials

Former Victims’ Commissioner Dame Vera Baird slammed the officers’ actions as “absolutely shocking,” demanding those responsible be held accountable.

Valdo Calocane, 32, admitted manslaughter on grounds of diminished responsibility after fatally stabbing two university students and a pensioner in June last year. He was committed to Ashworth Secure Hospital in January.

The families now demand justice not only for their loved ones but also to ensure such “voyeurism” never taints a tragedy again.
