Family Pleads for Witnesses One Year After Fatal Little Sutton Crash

The family of Sean Coffey, who tragically died after being hit by two cars in Little Sutton, is urging witnesses to come forward as the one-year anniversary of the crash looms.

Deadly Collision on A41 Chester Road

Sean died on 31 December 2022 after being struck by a black BMW X5 and a grey Land Rover Discovery on the A41 Chester Road at around 6.20pm. Both drivers stopped at the scene and have been questioned, but police investigations continue.

The crash happened at the busy junction of Smithy Lane, near a shopping precinct. Officers are calling for anyone who witnessed the incident but hasn’t spoken to them yet to get in touch.

Family Statement: “No Closure After Sean Went to Shop and Never Returned”

“It’s been almost 12 months since our Sean was taken from us. His untimely death has left us devastated. He was kind, generous, and funny. Without him, there’s a massive void in our lives,” the family said.

“It doesn’t get any easier, especially as we approach our first Christmas without him. The last year has been incredibly tough, and we still have no closure after Sean went to the shop and never came home. We urge anyone who might have seen what happened to contact the police.”

Police Issue New Appeal as Anniversary Nears

Police Sergeant Simon Degg added:

“Christmas and New Year should be a time for celebration with loved ones. Our thoughts are with Sean’s family as they face their first festive season without him.

“Our investigation has looked at every angle – CCTV footage, witness statements, and driver interviews. But as we approach the first anniversary, we need anyone who was in the area and hasn’t spoken to us to come forward.

“No piece of information is too small and could help us move closer to closure for Sean’s family.”
