Lisa Brown Mystery Deepens as Ex-Boyfriend Flees Prison Day Release
Lisa Brown, 32, from Scotland vanished without a trace on November 4, 2015, from her home in Guadiaro, San Roque, Spain. She shared the home with her eight-year-old son. Four days after she failed to pick up her son from school, Spanish police were alerted.
Violent Scene Found at Home
When police entered Lisa’s apartment, signs pointed to a violent struggle before she disappeared. Forensic teams sealed off the property for DNA analysis. Lisa’s former boyfriend, luxury yacht dealer Simon Corner, also known as Dean Woods, was soon questioned about her disappearance. Days later, Woods fled the country.
Manhunt and Arrests
- April 2016: Woods arrested in Denmark and extradited to Spain.
- He was imprisoned but later released.
- Late 2017: Woods broke bail conditions; a European Arrest Warrant was issued.
- A month later, he was arrested at Heathrow on arrival from abroad.
The family hoped Woods would finally face trial for Lisa’s disappearance. But shockingly, the Spanish judge dropped the case due to insufficient evidence. No charges were filed despite Woods spending six months on the run.
Case Re-Opened then Closed Again
In October 2018, Lisa’s family got a glimmer of hope as authorities announced the case would be re-opened. Yet their hopes were dashed when lawyers said Woods would not face prosecution.
Woods was subsequently jailed—not for Lisa’s disappearance—but for being part of a €10 million drug ring. He received a 12-year sentence.
Now Woods Is On The Run Again
Helen, Lisa’s mother, said:
“What are they doing giving him day release when he was sentenced to 12 years two years ago? He’s in an open prison, free to come and go as he pleases—and he just didn’t bother to return.”
Woods vanished after leaving HMP Sudbury on day release on Saturday 19 November. He is described as 5ft 11in, medium build, short brown hair, brown eyes, with a Liverpool accent.
Helen blasted the justice system:
“While we thought he was inside, it gave us some peace that he was paying for his freedom. What an absolute joke of a justice system. With his fake names, passports and help escaping before, he should never have been allowed out.”
