Teen Arsonists Spark Fire in Swindon’s Queens Park
Firefighters rushed to Swindon town centre’s Queens Park on Tuesday evening after a gang of about a dozen teens sparked a blaze in the middle of the main field.
The troublemakers were seen setting fire to twigs, branches, and even deodorant cans stolen from nearby trees at around 6pm. The risky stunt caused a series of small explosions, with the youths also reportedly smoking cannabis as they played with fire.
Fire Crew Douse Flames with Buckets and Bare Feet
The Royal Wootton Bassett fire crew, who were on standby nearby, quickly sprang into action. They tackled the flames using buckets of water and even their feet to stamp out the fire before it could spread into a major grass blaze.
Police Step In to Give Teens a Stern Warning
A police officer also arrived at the scene to deliver a firm talking-to, warning the teenagers about the dangers and consequences of their reckless behaviour.
