Man Shot and Officers Injured in Scunthorpe Police Standoff
Weapons Report Sparks Police Siege
Chaos erupted on Theodore Road, Scunthorpe, after a tip-off about a man allegedly armed inside a home sparked a major police operation on Wednesday evening, June 15.
Deputy Chief Constable Paul Anderson said the drama began shortly before 6.30pm when officers got a call from a concerned member of the public.
Man Shot, Taken to Hospital
Police moved in fast, setting up a cordon to keep locals safe. During the tense incident, officers shot the man, who was rushed to hospital and remains in stable condition.
Two Officers Seriously Hurt
The dangerous encounter left two police officers seriously injured. Both were also taken to hospital for treatment. Deputy Chief Constable Anderson confirmed all responding officers are receiving full welfare support from their managers and the Police Federation.
Investigation Underway
A mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office of Police Conduct to review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
