Big Cannabis Bust as Police Raid Southampton Warehouse
At 7.10am on 11 January, police swooped on a warehouse in Pitt Road, Southampton, cracking down on a major cannabis grow operation.
Four Men Arrested in Drug Operation
Three men, aged 27, 29 and 25 — all with no fixed address — were arrested on suspicion of cannabis cultivation. They remain in custody. A fourth man tried to flee but injured himself and was also arrested. He was taken to hospital for minor injuries and will be questioned once discharged.
Cannabis Farm Discovered Inside Squalid Warehouse
The raid uncovered several rooms over two floors packed with hundreds of cannabis plants at various growth stages. Officers also found a sophisticated ventilation and lighting setup. A grimy living area and bathroom were on site, adding to the warehouse’s grim conditions.
Police Rescue Dog From Drug Den
A dog found at the premises was taken into police care.
Detective’s Warning to Communities and Landlords
“This is a great result which will disrupt a major link in the cannabis supply chain in Southampton and the wider county,” said Detective Inspector Stuart Barton.
“Cannabis production on this scale is often linked to organised crime gangs who exploit vulnerable people, force poor working conditions, and bring violence to our streets.”
He urged locals, “If you suspect cannabis cultivation in your area, call us to help build intelligence and catch those behind it.”
Landlords should also regularly inspect their properties as illegal modifications to electrics and structures for cannabis growing can cause severe damage and costs.
