Car Crashes Through Famous Kent Pub Front Door, Four Injured

A silver Vauxhall Corsa smashed through the front door of the historic Grade II listed Cinque Port Arms pub in New Romney on a busy Friday night, injuring four people. The driver, a 24-year-old man from New Romney, has been arrested following the shocking crash.

High-Speed Smash at Historic Pub

The dramatic incident happened at 9.52pm, when the car ploughed into the pub filled with Friday night punters. Emergency services rushed to the scene, with police and paramedics swarming the area. Photos showed the car wedged tightly into the main entrance.

A staff member at the 700-year-old boozer said: “There are police everywhere and ambulances here too.” This is the third head-on collision at this pub in just two years, raising fears about road safety near the venue.

Driver Seriously Injured, Three Others Hurt

The male driver was ejected from the vehicle and now remains in a serious condition at William Harvey Hospital, Ashford. Three other men suffered non-life-threatening injuries including fractures and were also taken to the same hospital. A fourth person injured did not need hospital treatment.

A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed crews, including their Hart Hazardous Area Response Team, responded immediately.

Police Launch Investigation, Appeal for Witnesses

Kent Police confirmed the 24-year-old driver is in custody. Officers continue to investigate the collision, appealing for anyone with information to come forward. Witnesses are urged to call 01843 222289 quoting reference 24-1510.
