RSPCA and Kent Police Raid Dog Worry Operation
The RSPCA swooped on two locations near Canterbury and Folkestone on Wednesday morning (Jan 18), rescuing dogs allegedly involved in suspected animal welfare and wildlife offences.
Terriers and Lurchers Seized in Large-Scale Bust
Kent Police helped the RSPCA execute multiple warrants, rounding up 10 dogs believed to be terrier and lurcher crosses. The pooches have now been taken into the charity’s care.
“On Wednesday, January 18, a number of warrants were executed as part of an investigation into alleged animal welfare and wildlife violations,” said an RSPCA spokesperson. “Kent Police apprehended two dogs in Canterbury and eight near Folkestone. The dogs, mostly terriers and some lurchers, have now been placed in the care of the RSPCA. Police also seized additional supporting evidence.”
Four Men Arrested but Released Amid Continuing Probe
The police confirmed four men were arrested during the raid: two from Canterbury, aged 21 and 66; a 37-year-old from Ashford; and a 44-year-old from Folkestone. All were released pending further investigation.
“Kent Police officers, including the Rural Task Force, assisted RSPCA officers with a number of warrants in east Kent on Wednesday, January 18,” said police officials. “They have been released while the investigation is ongoing.”
The RSPCA thanked all involved forces for their teamwork in what they described as a large-scale and ongoing operation.
