Police Chase Ends in Arrests After High-Speed Pursuit on A23
Ford Focus Fails to Stop, Sparks Chase
Shortly after 6pm on Saturday 27 January, police spotted a Ford Focus heading southbound on the A23 near Pyecombe. The driver ignored orders to stop, sparking a pursuit onto the A27 eastbound. The chase ended in a minor collision between Falmer and Lewes.
Occupants Flee But Caught Quickly
The car’s occupants abandoned the vehicle but were swiftly detained on foot by officers, aided by the National Police Air Service helicopter. Authorities then closed the road in both directions while investigating.
Four Men Arrested Over Dangerous Driving and Firearms
- A 30-year-old from hastings/" title="Hastings" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Hastings was arrested for dangerous driving, failing to stop, and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear. He’s been bailed until 28 April.
- A 21-year-old man, also from Hastings, faces similar charges including possession of a firearm without a certificate. He’s been bailed until 20 April.
- A 21-year-old from Battle was arrested for theft of a vehicle, possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear, and failing to stop. Bail is set for 20 April.
- A 25-year-old man from Hastings is facing charges including aggravated vehicle taking, possession of a firearm without a certificate, and dangerous driving. He, too, has been bailed until 20 April.
