Eight-Year-Old Girl Airlifted After Horror Horse Crash in Cornwall
A young girl has been seriously injured after a collision between a horse and a van in Higher Treween, Altarnun, near Launceston on Sunday afternoon.
Van Crashes Into Horse at 2:20pm
At around 2:20pm GMT, a white Ford Transit van slammed into a horse. The horse was being led by a 12-year-old girl, who luckily escaped unscathed. However, the eight-year-old child was hurt badly enough to need urgent airlift to hospital.
Horse Put Down at Scene
Tragically, the horse suffered severe injuries and vets had no choice but to humanely euthanise the animal on site.
Man Arrested Over Incident
Devon and Cornwall Police have arrested a 61-year-old man from Launceston. He is in custody on suspicion of:
- Failing to stop after a traffic collision
- Failing to report the collision
- Dangerous driving
- Driving while disqualified
Road Reopens After Investigation
The road was shut to allow emergency crews and police to investigate the crash scene. It was reopened at about 4:15pm.
