Gunbattle Erupts Near Brixton O2 Academy
Stockwell Road and Benedict Road are shut both ways after an intense gunfight broke out just yards from Brixton O2 Academy in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Armed Police and Paramedics Rush to Scene
Armed Met Police officers and London Ambulance Service paramedics responded after a man was reportedly shot on Benedict Road around 3am on November 27. A large crime scene has been set up as Trident officers launch a serious investigation.
Evidence at the scene includes several 6mm bullets and casings scattered across the road, all carefully bagged by officers. A black Mercedes with visible damage and a white BMW with blown-out windows are both caught up in the chaos, the latter believed to have been used by a victim chased through the shootout.
No Arrests Yet – Manhunt Underway
The Met Police have not made any arrests so far. CCTV footage from nearby streets is being reviewed to track down the gunman. Multiple bus routes (2, 196, 322, 333, 345, N2) are affected, with congestion and delays expected.
Road Closures and Ongoing Police Operation
Additional closures remain in place at the Rumsey Road junction and across the area, and these are expected to continue while the investigation unfolds.
The Met Police have been contacted for comment on the incident.
