Armed Police Back on Sandown Road for Third Time in Weeks
Leed Street Locked Down Again
Armed police have slammed down a lockdown on Sandown’s Leed Street for the third time in just weeks. Fully geared officers from both the Island and mainland swarmed the area, guns drawn and ballistic shields at the ready, moving on a property amid serious welfare concerns.
No Arrests Despite Armed Show of Force
The dramatic operation was sparked by a call reporting fears for a resident’s safety. Despite the heavy police presence and a thorough search, no arrests have been made, and officers remain on scene conducting enquiries.
Second Location Also Searched
Police also attended a second nearby location as part of their investigation. A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said:
“We were called at 9:15pm on Friday 17 May to reports of a man with a weapon on Leed Street in Sandown. Specialist officers carried out enquiries in the area and spoke to a man, but no weapon was located and no offences were identified. The Neighbourhood Policing Team will be carrying out regular patrols in the area.”
Residents remain on edge as armed police continue their high-profile presence in the usually quiet town.
