Jaguar Land Rover Hit by Biggest UK Cyberattack Ever
A brutal cyberattack on Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) could be the most costly hack the UK has ever seen, new research reveals.
Global Production Screeches to a Halt
The attack hit in late August, forcing JLR to shut down all IT systems. Manufacturing stopped across its global plants, including vital UK sites in Solihull, Halewood, and wolverhampton/" title="Wolverhampton" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Wolverhampton. Dealer networks were also compromised, grinding sales to a standstill and leaving suppliers desperate as orders were cancelled or delayed amid production chaos.
Eyewatering £1.9 Billion Financial Blow
The Cyber Monitoring Centre (CMC) estimates the financial damage at a staggering £1.9 billion. Over 5,000 organisations tied to JLR suffered effects. The CMC warns the total cost could spike as high as £2.1 billion.
Cyber Monitoring Centre: “This attack exposes just how vulnerable major UK manufacturers are to digital threats – and the colossal costs when breaches happen.”
