Leicestershire Cop Mauled by XL Bully During Duty Call

A Leicestershire police officer was seriously injured after being attacked by a dog believed to be an XL Bully while on duty in Ibstock.

Attack Sparks Emergency Response

The violent incident happened at around 4.40pm on Thursday when two officers attended an address on Lewis Close, searching for a man wanted by police. During the call-out, one officer was bitten hard on the upper leg, suffering serious injuries. His colleague escaped with just a minor finger cut.

Emergency services raced to the scene. The injured officer was rushed to hospital and is currently receiving treatment.

Two Dangerous Dogs Seized

The aggressive XL Bully was swiftly confiscated and placed in secure kennels. A second dog at the property, described as a pit bull-type breed, was also taken into custody and housed safely.

Ongoing Investigation, No Arrests Yet

A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: “Inquiries are ongoing into the incident, and at this time, there have been no arrests.”

The force is focused on the welfare of the injured officer and the dogs involved as they continue their investigation near Coalville.
