Lewisham High Street Locked Down after Man Seen Waving Knife from Window

Armed Police Swarm the Scene

Armed officers swooped on Lewisham High Street this morning after reports of a man brandishing a knife from a window. Police, ambulance crews, and fire brigade units rushed to the area around 10:45 a.m. to deal with the disturbing incident.

The Met Police have cordoned off the scene and are engaging with the man inside the property. They are also working to confirm if anyone else remains inside.

HSBC and Nearby Streets Shut as Chaos Mounts

Heavy police presence is visible outside the HSBC bank, with a security cordon stretching between Lee High Road, Belmont Hill, and Rennell Street (A2211).

The lockdown has sparked major traffic tailbacks, causing delays in both directions on Lewisham High Street, plus congestion stretching half a mile along Lee High Road and Molesworth Street.

Met Police Issue Urgent Warning

“Police were called to a disturbance on Lewisham High Street, at around 10:45hrs on Monday, 10 February. Officers are currently in attendance at the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade. We are speaking to a man inside an address at the location. Enquiries are ongoing to establish whether anyone else is inside the property. Lewisham High Street section of the A20 remains closed while the incident is ongoing.”
