Two More Arrests in Shocking Newham Teen Murder
Detectives have swooped again in the murder probe of 16-year-old Shanur Ahmed. Two 18-year-old men were arrested today on suspicion of murder and robbery.
Both remain held at an east London police station as the investigation heats up.
Shanur Found Dead Near Gallions Reach DLR
Shanur’s body was discovered with fatal head injuries in scrubland behind Gallions Reach DLR Station, Atlantis Avenue, E6, on the morning of Tuesday 3 March.
London Ambulance Service called police at 8.38am, but the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.
Four More Men Bailed, One Released After Murder Arrests
A post-mortem confirmed Shanur died from a head injury. Detective Chief Inspector Larry Smith of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command is leading the case.
Four other men, also arrested on suspicion of murder, have been bailed until April. Meanwhile, a 20-year-old man caught up in the arrests was released with no further action.
Ongoing Probe After Shanur Reported Missing
Shanur’s family had reported him missing early on Tuesday after he failed to return home to Manor Park, E12.
The case has triggered involvement from the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards and the Independent Office for Police Conduct due to the missing person status preceding the murder.
Detectives with the Specialist Crime Command continue to hunt for answers in this tragic case.
