Wayne Woodgate Murder: New Clues Emerge Over White Van

Detectives investigating the shocking murder of Wayne Woodgate, who vanished from Tunbridge Wells last Thursday, have zeroed in on a mysterious white van. Local residents spotted a very clean, small white van parked near where his body was found in a layby close to Peasmarsh, East Sussex.

Last Seen Near Pub Before Disappearance

Woodgate was last caught on CCTV at the Opera House Wetherspoon in Tunbridge Wells. Authorities say he was later seen getting into a van on Goods Station Road. On Monday, police searched a rural spot near Peasmarsh and recovered a body believed to be Wayne’s. Formal ID is pending, but his family has been informed.

59-Year-Old Arrested as Police Close In

A 59-year-old man is now held on suspicion of murder and remains in custody as officers dig deeper. A nearby resident told police the white van stood out for being unusually spotless compared to typical fly-tippers’ vehicles.

“Normally, vehicles using the layby for fly-tipping are dirty, but this one caught my eye because it looked pristine,” the witness said.

Other motorists have also come forward with information and police are urging anyone with dashcam footage or relevant tips to contact Kent Police or upload material via the Major Incident Public Portal.

Call for Witnesses

  • Anyone who saw a suspicious white van or unusual activity in Peasmarsh or Tunbridge Wells around the time of Wayne’s disappearance is urged to speak up.
  • Investigators are piecing together timeline details to uncover what led to this tragic killing.

Police remain determined to find justice for Wayne Woodgate and bring those responsible to account.
