Men Jailed for Growing Drugs in Bakersfield
Laurynus Kasputis, 22, of Hollydale Road, admitted producing cannabis and was sentenced to 20 months behind bars in December 2020.
His co-accused, 21-year-old Karolis Jancevicius, also pleaded guilty. Despite claims of modern slavery forcing him to tend the plants, the police found no evidence. He was also handed 20 months in prison.
Police Warn of Link Between Cannabis Farms and Violent Crime
PC Shemane Marsh, who led the investigation, said: “Officers arrived expecting a firearms incident, so they were shocked to find two men at a barbecue and a huge cannabis grow. Industrial-scale drug production is often tied to violent crime and exploitation.”
“Illegal drugs are ruining our communities. We won’t tolerate this. We’re committed to rooting out the people behind production and deal in Nottinghamshire’s streets.”
