Tragic End to Massive Search for Missing Teen in Kent

A major emergency response in Barham, Kent, ended in heartbreak on Sunday after the body of a teenage boy was found. The discovery is believed to be that of Lucas Webb, who had been missing since Saturday afternoon.

Family Brings Quiet Closure Amid Grief

Police brought Lucas’s family to Barham village hall shortly after 11am, where emotional scenes unfolded. Relatives embraced in the car park before speaking with the lead officer in charge of the search operation, which began Saturday evening.

Search Efforts Halted After Grim Discovery

  • Dozens of locals joined Kent Search and Rescue and London Search and Rescue teams during the frantic hunt for Lucas, last seen around 12.30pm Saturday riding his green push bike.
  • A search team member revealed they found Lucas’s mobile phone and a rucksack packed with laughing gas canisters hidden in nearby woodland.

“Kent Police attended woodland near Barham at 11.30am on Sunday 13 December 2020, where the body of a boy was located. He was pronounced deceased at the scene,” said a Kent Police spokesman.

The formal identification has yet to be completed, but the family have been informed. Police confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious. A report is being prepared for the coroner, and an investigation remains ongoing.
