Man Arrested After Trio of Armed Robberies Shake Basingstoke
A 23-year-old local man has been arrested as police crack down on a spate of armed robberies in Basingstoke’s South Ham neighbourhood.
Three Robberies, One Suspect
The suspect was detained on Sunday 14 April, following three separate daylight and evening raids involving what looked like a handgun or BB gun.
- Monday 8 April, 9pm: One Stop shop, St Michael’s Road. Staff threatened, cash stolen.
- Saturday 13 April, 8.20–8.40pm: Taste of 1 restaurant, Burnaby Close. Staff threatened and injured by BB gun shot. Nothing stolen.
- Sunday 14 April, 12.15–12.30pm: Stop and Shop, St Peters Road. Staff threatened, cash and cigarettes taken.
Staff Injured in Gun Threat
During the second robbery, a restaurant worker suffered a neck injury after the suspect fired the BB gun. He was rushed to hospital with a small wound but has since been treated and released.
Police Hunt Continues As Reassurance Patrols Step Up
Detectives link all three attacks and continue their investigation. Officers are carrying reassurance patrols in South Ham to keep the community safe.
Police urge anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage from the dates and locations of the crimes to come forward.
