Child Seriously Injured in North London Shooting as Police Make Arrest
Detectives have arrested a 19-year-old man over a brutal shooting in Brent that left a two-year-old child seriously hurt. The suspect was taken into custody after police raided two North London addresses at 5am on Friday, 5 June.
Four Shot in Harlesden Gun Attack
The shocking shooting happened around 9:45pm on Wednesday, 3 June, in Energen Close, Harlesden. Police and paramedics found four people with gunshot wounds — including the toddler who was rushed to a central London hospital with serious but stable injuries.
Also wounded were two teenage men and the child’s mother, a woman in her late 20s. Their injuries aren’t life-threatening.
Lone Gunman Targets Victims on the Street
Police believe all victims knew each other. They were standing outside when a lone man with a handgun opened fire. He fired multiple shots at the two teens and into a nearby car where the child was sitting.
The indiscriminate attack also hit the mother. The gunman then fled on a motorbike.
Police Launch Major Investigation, Call for Witnesses
“An innocent two-year-old boy is now seriously ill in hospital following this terrible crime,” said Detective Chief Inspector Rick Sewart from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command (Trident). “I urge anyone with information to come forward, whether anonymously through Crimestoppers or directly to police.”
North West Borough Commander Roy Smith added, “This violent attack is appalling — especially given that a child is among the victims.
