Knife Attack and Robbery in Newtownabbey Leads to Arrest
Detectives have made a breakthrough in a robbery case from Newtownabbey. On Saturday, June 22, a 25-year-old man was violently attacked and robbed in the Whitewell Road area.
Victim Assaulted Inside Car
Detective Sergeant Faulkner revealed the shocking details: at around 8:15 p.m., the victim entered a vehicle already carrying several passengers. A male occupant in the front seat suddenly attacked him with a knife, snatching money and a mobile phone.
Chase Ends with Arrest
After the knife attack, the assailant got out, sparking a scuffle among the passengers. The group fled in a black Vauxhall Astra towards Shore Road. The injured man was treated for minor cuts on his left leg.
Police swiftly arrested a 38-year-old man in the Mid Ulster area. He faces charges of assault causing actual bodily harm, robbery, and carrying a blade in public. He remains in custody.
