One-Year-Old Boy Murdered, Man Arrested in Hackney
Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command have arrested a man in connection with the tragic murder of a one-year-old boy. Police had been searching for 33-year-old Bidhya Sagar Das (DOB 31.12.83) linked to the case.
Man Held on Murder and Attempted Murder Charges
Das was arrested in Hackney at 7:15pm on Sunday, 19 March. He remains in custody at an east London police station while inquiries continue. Authorities suspect him of murder and attempted murder.
Tragedy Unfolds in Wilberforce Road Flat
Police and London Ambulance Service rushed to a flat on Wilberforce Road, N4, at around 11:10pm on Saturday, 18 March. Two babies, a boy and a girl aged just one, were found injured and were quickly taken to hospital.
Despite medical efforts, the baby boy was pronounced dead at 12:48am. His next of kin have been informed. The baby girl remains in a critical condition, fighting for her life.
Police Launch Murder Probe, Appeal for Public Help
Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams said: “This is clearly a tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the family of the two young children. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, a baby boy sadly died in the early hours of this morning. A baby girl currently remains in a critical condition and is receiving specialist medical care.”
“Whilst we remain in the early stages of the investigation, a man has now been arrested. I would still like to hear from anyone who may have any information regarding this terrible incident.”
