Man Critical After Brutal Moped Attack in Battersea
Police were called to Charlotte Despard Avenue, SW11 at 4.32pm on Saturday, 25 May, after a 46-year-old man was found with a serious head injury.
Heroic Victim Confronts Moped Thieves
Officers believe the victim was attacked after he challenged a group of males trying to steal his moped from a nearby car park off Battersea Park Road. The gang struck him in the street before fleeing the scene.
16-Year-Old Arrested as Investigation Intensifies
London Ambulance rushed the man to hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Meanwhile, police have arrested a 16-year-old male near the scene on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm (GBH). He has been bailed pending further inquiries.
Moped Recovered, Crime Unit Takes Over
The moped was not stolen and has been recovered for forensic examination. Due to the nature of the attack and the victim’s condition, detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are leading the probe.
