Police Hunt Man Over Racial Abuse at Portsmouth Wilko

Officers want to speak to a man linked to a racially aggravated incident at the Wilko store on Arundel Street, Portsmouth. The ugly incident unfolded around 11am on Thursday, June 2, when the suspect reportedly hurled abuse at a 28-year-old woman wearing a hijab.

Suspect Description

  • White male, aged late 30s to early 50s
  • 5 feet 6 inches tall
  • Long blonde/brown/grey hair tied in a ponytail
  • Heavy build
  • Local accent

Police Appeal

Police Staff Investigator Olivia Freeman from the Eastern Investigations Team said: “This is a report of racially aggravated harassment aimed at a young woman. This was unprovoked and unacceptable.”

She added: “The incident happened in a public place in front of other customers at the store.”

Witnesses urged: “Did you see what happened? Do you recognise this man? Please call 101 in confidence quoting reference 44160205786.”
