Racially Aggravated Stabbing Shocks East London

Detectives have released a photo of a man they want to trace after a terrifying racially motivated stabbing in Dagenham, east London.

Victim Slashed After Racial Abuse

Police were called around 8.30pm on Thursday, 21 May, to a Farmway address following reports of an assault. Officers found a man with a slash wound across his face.

The victim was visiting a friend when the suspect, also at the property, started hurling racist insults. When the victim told him to stop, the attacker left — only to return moments later with a knife.

He slashed the victim’s face before lunging at him twice. The victim managed to escape and fled outside, while the suspect fled the scene.

Police Hunt 39-Year-Old Daniel Weston

Authorities are eager to speak with 39-year-old Daniel Weston, believed to live locally, in connection with the assault.

“This was an appalling and completely unprovoked attack on the victim – based solely on the colour of his skin – which has left him anxious and re-living the incident,” said Detective Constable Marvin Turner, East Area Safeguarding Command.

“Hate crime of any kind is abhorrent and will simply not be tolerated. We urge anyone with information about Daniel Weston’s whereabouts to come forward.”
