Just after 2am, emergency crews rushed to the West of Brighton Pier after a man plunged from a small groyne.

Major Rescue Operation Launched

Teams from Shoreham and Newhaven Coastguard, Sussex Police, SECAMB paramedics, and Sussex Fire & Rescue raced to the scene. The man suffered serious injuries and was treated on-site by SECAMB and HART teams.

Life-Saving Efforts

Coastguard crews helped move the injured man to a waiting ambulance before he was rushed to hospital for emergency care.

Coastguard Issues Grave Warning

“Climbing or jumping off structures on the beach or along the coast is dangerous. Falling or jumping off these can result in serious injury or loss of life,” Shoreham Coastguard said.

“If you see anyone in trouble along the coast, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.”
