Greater Manchester Police have launched an investigation after City’s stunning 4-1 thrashing at the Etihad turned sour. Liverpool’s coach suffered criminal damage, but thankfully no one was hurt, and the team’s bus made it safely back to Merseyside.
City Slams Vandalism on Liverpool Bus
Manchester City didn’t hold back in condemning the damage to Liverpool’s coach. The club called the behaviour “unacceptable” and slammed those responsible. “Incidents of this kind are unacceptable, and we strongly condemn the actions of the individual(s) responsible,” they said.
City Takes Responsibility and Shows Leadership
It’s a rare and refreshing move to see City own up to the mess caused by some fans. The club stressed that they are taking responsibility and are committed to protecting the sport’s reputation from such disgraceful acts.
Foul Hillsborough Chants Mock Tragedy
City also revealed their disgust at vile home fan chants referencing the 1989 Hillsborough disaster, which claimed 97 Liverpool lives. “We regret any offence these chants may have caused,” the club stated.
Manchester City vowed to keep working with supporter groups and officials from both sides to stamp out hateful chanting from their fiercely contested fixtures.
