Manhunt Underway After Teen Punched Off Bus in Sidcup
Detectives are hunting a thug who launched an unprovoked punch at a 17-year-old boy in Sidcup.
Violent Attack at Bus Stop
The shocking assault happened around 3.05pm on Tuesday, 14 January. The teenager had just got off the number 51 bus at the Halfway Street/Old Farm Road East stop when trouble started.
A man, also leaving the bus, was bumped into by a group of schoolchildren. The man then stumbled into the teen and began shouting and swearing in his face.
When the teen tried to walk away, the man blocked his path and suddenly punched him in the face before fleeing the scene.
Victim Suffers Fractured Eye Socket
The teen was helped by a passerby and rushed to hospital, where he was diagnosed with a fractured eye socket.
Police Seek Roofers’ Jacket-Wearing Suspect
Police releasing a photo of the suspect are urging anyone who knows him to come forward. The man is described as a white male in his 40s or 50s, with a shaved head.
He was wearing a high-vis jacket emblazoned with “Lead Roofing,” a blue Adidas cap, a camouflage army vest, and dark blue shorts featuring an Arsenal football club logo. He also carried a red shoulder bag and is thought to have tattoos on his right hand and left calf.
Appeal for Witnesses
PC David Searle, Met Roads and Transport Policing Command, said: “This was a completely unprovoked assault that left the victim seriously injured and shaken. We won’t tolerate this kind of behaviour. “The suspect ran off through Holy Trinity churchyard towards Hurst Road. We believe he likely lives in Sidcup. “We urge anyone who recognises this man or saw anything suspicious to call 101 with reference 3900726/20.”
