Woman Airlifted After Horror Crash Near Newport
A woman was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries after a nasty smash on Briddlesford Road near Newport this evening (Thursday).
The crash involved a BMW and a Vauxhall Astra, with police called to the scene at 6pm near the junction with Blacklands Lane.
Two Men Flee Scene, Police Launch Major Hunt
Following the collision, two men fled on foot. Despite a major search involving a police dog and helicopter, they remain at large.
Officers spent the evening collecting evidence, including airbag samples for DNA analysis.
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
“We want to speak to these two men as soon as possible. We’re concerned they could be injured and need to assist with our enquiries,” a Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said.
“If you were in the BMW, or know who was, please get in touch.”
