Six Nabbed in Major Drug Raids Across Kingston and Merton
Metropolitan Police smashed a major drug ring with a series of daring raids on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. The blitz targeted the Cambridge Road Estate and nearby areas, resulting in six arrests and a haul of heroin, cocaine, and other narcotics.
Fast-Food Joint Among Six Properties Raided
- Officers stormed six locations, including a fast-food restaurant on Surbiton Crescent and several residential homes.
- Six suspects were hauled in: three men, one woman, and two teens—all held in custody.
- The swoop is part of the Met’s ruthless Clear, Hold, Build strategy, aimed at rooting out serious crime and reclaiming neighbourhoods from gang control.
Police and Council Praise Operation’s Impact
“Drug dealing fuels violent crime and antisocial behaviour,” said Superintendent Josh Laughton, neighbourhood policing lead for Kingston. “This targeted action aims to slash offending and clean up our communities.”
Kingston Councillor Sabah Hamed added: “Kingston is already one of London’s safest boroughs. This crackdown shows our commitment to making it even safer and protecting vulnerable residents.”
Clear, Hold, Build: Proven Crime-Busting Tactic
The Met’s Clear, Hold, Build strategy has delivered results elsewhere, including Northumberland Park and Edmonton, where 424 arrests were made and violent crime plummeted to a three-year low.
This hard-hitting approach helped the Met shake off special measures in January 2025 by boosting neighbourhood policing, child exploitation prevention, and public safety.
The Next Step: Ongoing Probe and More Busts Expected
The investigation continues, with more arrests likely on the horizon. Police urge anyone with information about drug dealing in Kingston or Merton to pick up the phone and call 101 or report anonymously via Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
The Met vows to keep working hand-in-hand with local councils and communities to keep Kingston safe for all.
