The Metropolitan Police have opened a new investigation into Russell Brand over a sexual assault claim dating back to 2003. Sources confirm the alleged attack took place in Soho, central London.
More Trouble for the Comedian Amid Previous Allegations
This latest case comes on the heels of serious accusations involving four women who claim Brand assaulted them between 2006 and 2013. The comedian and actor has strongly denied all the allegations to date.
Police Reach Out to Victims
A Met Police spokesperson said, “We are aware of recent reports by The Sunday Times and Channel 4’s Dispatches regarding sexual offence allegations. On 17 September, we received a report of a sexual assault alleged to have happened in Soho in 2003.”
The police have been in contact with the woman who made the latest report and are offering her support. Authorities are actively working with media outlets to ensure other potential victims know how to come forward.
Met Urges Anyone Affected to Step Forward
The Met spokesperson added, “Anyone who believes they have been a victim of a sexual offence, regardless of when it happened, is encouraged to contact the police.”
The investigation into Russell Brand’s 2003 allegation is ongoing as the Met probes the new claim.
