Major Police Crackdown Nets 109 Arrests in Drug and Crime Sweep
In a fierce three-day blitz, forces from Surrey, Thames Valley, Hertfordshire, Essex, and the Metropolitan Police teamed up for ‘Operation Pandilla’ – a targeted strike against criminals exploiting the UK’s roads.
Automatic Number Plate Recognition Hits Hard
The operation relied heavily on Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) and sharp police intelligence to catch vehicles blazing along key motorways and arterial routes. These roads are often the lifelines of destructive ‘County Lines’ drug networks.
Cracking Down on Drug Dealers and Violent Offenders
With a clear focus on curbing serious violence, drug-related harm, and high-impact crimes, the forces smashed through organised crime rings. The haul? 109 arrests for drug supply, offensive weapons, burglaries, and more.
Weapons, Vehicles, and Drugs Seized
- 46 vehicles taken off the road
- 18 weapons confiscated
- A hefty stash of drugs seized
“Operation Pandilla has been a successful three-day operation where officers from a number of police force areas were able to pull together their resources and proactively police our road networks to disrupt and detect some of our most serious criminal offenders,” said Detective Inspector Dee Fielding from Surrey Police.
“Many of those arrested will be involved in organised criminality and pose a risk to our communities, often targeting vulnerable adults and children. Our focus over the three days was to send a clear message to those involved in these crimes: you are not welcome here in Surrey or anywhere else.
“Safeguarding our communities is paramount. We will keep hitting these organised crime groups who bring violence and harm. We urge the public to come forward with information to help build intelligence and protect the vulnerable.”
