October Half Term Crackdown Hits Drug Dealers and Yobs
Eastbourne’s Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) went full throttle during the October half term. Every day, around a dozen officers and PCSOs patrolled hotspots, checked in on vulnerable communities, and cracked down on road and drug crimes.
Ten Arrests and Multiple Seizures
- 10 arrests for drug dealing, possession, and arson
- Vehicle stop leads to two arrests linked to Class A drugs
- Vulnerable woman rescued from potential cuckooing
- Wanted man caught during a safeguarding visit
- Five cars seized for no insurance; drivers fined and hit with points
- Knives, drugs, alcohol, and a suspected stolen credit card also confiscated
One particularly chaotic scene played out in the Motcombe area, where underage drinkers were causing a ruckus. PCSOs swooped in and seized a large haul of alcohol, calming families living nearby.
Heavy Patrols Target Anti-Social Behaviour
The team clocked up 435 hours of patrols across key spots like Gildredge Park, Pavilion Gardens, and Shinewater—mostly during evenings when trouble tends to flare. They paid around 10 visits to cuckooing victims to check safeguarding efforts and provide support.
“We are always listening to the concerns of our communities, and working to address the issues that are a priority for those living and working in our town,” said Acting Sgt Ed Faulkner.
“This week has shown that with dedicated patrols, especially over the half term and Halloween, we are getting great results. We will not accept any behaviour that affects the quality of life for our residents and will tackle it all year round.”
Community Safety Takes Centre Stage
Officers also gathered 30 separate pieces of intelligence on drugs, suspicious vehicles, and wanted individuals—building a strong case to keep Eastbourne safe. With these ongoing efforts, the town aims to send a clear message: crime won’t be tolerated.
