Tragic Discovery at Lark Rise
Detectives have launched a murder probe after a 70-year-old woman was found dead at a home in Newton Poppleford, Devon. Police were called to Lark Rise at around 1:15pm on Friday, 17 January, after concerns for the woman’s welfare were raised. Paramedics attended but sadly confirmed her death at the scene. Efforts to identify and notify her next of kin are ongoing.
Man Arrested on Suspicion of Murder
A 67-year-old man from Newton Poppleford has been arrested and is in custody on suspicion of murder. Police say the man and the victim were known to each other, but no further details have been released.

A police cordon remains in place as detectives comb the property for clues. Detective Inspector Paula Trevett of Devon and Cornwall Police reassured locals that the case is treated as an isolated incident.
“At this time, we are not seeking anyone else in connection with the death,” she said. “You will see an increased police presence in the area. We encourage residents to speak to officers if you have any concerns.”
