A car sped away and crashed into Shawstead Road before the driver bolted on foot and was arrested. Police later found cannabis dumped on a roundabout at North Dane Way.
Driver Flees After High-Speed Chase
The suspect ditching the vehicle raised alarm after refusing to stop. Officers quickly swooped in Shawstead Road, but the man fled on foot.
Cannabis Found Thrown from VW Golf
Investigators recovered a stash of cannabis from a roundabout. PC Hannah Cooper appealed: “We’re calling on witnesses who saw the VW Golf racing along North Dane Way and a package being thrown from its window.”
She added, “Dashcam drivers, please check your footage—it could be crucial to the probe.”
Suspect Released, Probe Ongoing
A 25-year-old man from Chatham is now released pending further investigation into drug supply, failing to stop for police, and driving offences.
