Two Men Assault Young Man in Broad Daylight on Mount Pleasant Road
Brutal Attack in the Evening
A man in his 20s was violently attacked on Saturday, 5 February 2022, while walking along Mount Pleasant Road. At around 8.50pm, two men suddenly ran up to him and punched him repeatedly. When the victim fell to the ground, the assault continued unabated.
Victim Hospitalised with Facial Injuries
Following the attack, the victim was rushed to hospital with serious facial injuries and bruising. The violent ordeal has left the community shocked and searching for answers.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
PC Lily Mackay, leading the investigation, revealed that the suspects fled after bystanders stepped in. She urged anyone who saw the attack but hasn’t contacted police to come forward. “We understand the suspects fled the scene after members of the public intervened and we are appealing for anybody who witnessed the incident but has not yet spoken to the police, to call our appeal line,” she said.
Suspects Arrested and Released on Bail
- Two men, both aged 22, were arrested on Monday, 7 February on suspicion of assault.
- They have been bailed and are due to return to the police station on 6 March.
