Knife Threat Shocks Basildon as Trio Nabbed in Attempted Robbery
Victim Threatened with Knife on Whitmore Way
Just before 6:30pm on Monday 3 April, a man was confronted by a gang of knife-wielding thugs on Whitmore Way. They demanded his phone but, luckily, the victim escaped without a scratch and raced to Basildon Police station for help.
Armed Cops Make Three Arrests
Officers, including armed response teams, swiftly descended on the area. They arrested three men suspected of attempted robbery. All three remain in custody as investigations continue.
Police Reach Out to Public for Help
Chief Inspector Daniel McHugh, District Commander for Basildon, said: “Thankfully, this victim was not harmed and nothing was stolen. However, this incident has understandably rattled the local community, which is why you might have seen a heightened police presence last night.”
He added, “We conducted stop-and-searches targeting those fitting the suspect description and have detained three men connected to this case. We urge anyone who saw or knows anything to come forward.”
