Armed Brawl Erupts in Southampton Park
Police rushed to Palmerston Park, Southampton, at 1.50pm on Thursday after reports of a violent scrap involving weapons. Eyewitnesses spotted men wielding a knife, baseball bat, bottles, and pieces of wood during the fracas.
No Injuries but Three Arrested
Thankfully, no one was hurt. Officers found and seized the knife at the scene. Three men were arrested:
- A 26-year-old man with no fixed address on suspicion of affray
- A 28-year-old Southampton man on suspicion of affray
- A 27-year-old Southampton man on suspicion of affray and possession of Class B cannabis
All remain in custody as investigations continue.
Police Crackdown on Knife Crime
Police stressed that tackling weapon-related crime and serious violence in the city is a top priority. They called for a multi-agency effort involving local communities, businesses, and public services to root out violence at its source.
“We thank members of the public who reported this incident, allowing us to respond swiftly,” said a police spokesperson. Officers will be stepping up patrols around Palmerston Park today.
