Major Drug Raids Rock South London
On Friday morning, 23 July, South Area Command Unit officers launched a massive crackdown in New Addington. Backed by firearms squads, the Territorial Support Group (TSG), and the Dog Unit, cops swooped on ten addresses in a well-coordinated dawn blitz.
Seven Arrested Amid Stash of Drugs and Knives
The raids netted seven suspects, all held on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs. Police also recovered sizeable quantities of narcotics and two knives. All those arrested remain in custody at south London stations as investigations continue.
Police Crackdown Aims to Clean Up Communities
About 275 officers took part in the operation, acting on fresh intelligence targeting known dealers and drug hotspots. Detective Inspector Claire Christmas warned:
“Drug dealing and the criminality that comes with it bring misery to communities. This tough action is just one part of ongoing efforts to rid our streets of these criminals.”
She added:
“Dealers prey on vulnerable people, often using intimidation and violence to control them. We will not tolerate the suffering this causes individuals, families, and entire communities. Let this morning’s raids send a clear message – criminals will be caught and made to face justice.”
