Massive Drug Raids Rock South London: 12 Arrested in Crackdown on Peckham and Old Kent Road
Early Morning Raids Target Drug Networks
On Wednesday, 21 July, a major police operation swept through Peckham and Old Kent Road, targeting suspected drug dealers. Officers from Southwark Safer Neighbourhoods, the local CID, Met’s Central Specialist Crime, and the National Crime Agency (NCA), backed by the Territorial Support Group (TSG), raided 16 addresses in south London at dawn.
12 Men Arrested Over Class A Drug Supply
Twelve males aged 16 to 55 were snapped up on suspicion of Class A drug supply, conspiracy to supply, and involvement in drug trafficking. Police seized a haul of Class A and B drugs along with a stash of cash during thorough searches.
Operation Born From Years of Investigation
The crackdown is the result of a painstaking probe launched in December 2020. Officers uncovered multiple drug lines plaguing Southwark and focused efforts on dismantling these dangerous networks.
Neighbourhood Inspector Tom Cornish said: “This morning’s activity is a direct result of months and months of hard work by officers. The public have played an important role in providing information that has assisted us in the dismantling of these drug lines.”
He added, “Drug dealing drives violence and misery in our communities. By disrupting these supply lines, we aim to prevent future violent incidents.”
