West Sussex Fire Service Goes From Ashes to Art
West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service is turning old fire helmets into stunning art to back The Fire Fighters Charity. The new Ashes to Art campaign calls on artists across the UK to unleash their creativity for a great cause.
Calling All Artists: Design a Fire Helmet Masterpiece
The campaign aims to pick 25 winning designs to be painted onto 123 retired helmets. It’s a rare chance for pros and amateurs alike to see their artwork worn by real fire heroes.
Artists must submit their imaginative designs by 2 February 2024. Submissions go to [email protected]. Don’t miss your shot at art immortality on a fire helmet!
Fire Chief and Charity Praise the Campaign
“It’s heartening to repurpose these fire helmets into something that not only celebrates art but also supports a charity doing outstanding work for fire service personnel and their families,” said Acting Chief Fire Officer Mark Andrews.
He added that the Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service’s previous Ashes to Art campaign produced “some incredible designs,” and he expects the same creativity this time.
Louise Furneaux, Community Fundraiser at The Fire Fighters Charity, said: “Ashes to Art 2024 beautifully marries cherished fire service memorabilia with the artistic talents of local communities. We’re grateful to everyone making this happen to support vital services for our fire service community.”
