Police Hunt Teens After Machete Attack Smashes Car Window in Swindon
Police are urgently seeking two teenage boys in connection with a brazen disorder on Sunday, September 20, where a car window was smashed during a terrifying chase in Swindon.
Just after 1.30pm, officers were called to reports of a group of males chasing an individual across Drakes Way towards Ocotal Way and the Tesco store. One of the suspects was seen wielding what looks like a machete – the same weapon used to smash a stationary car’s window at traffic lights on Drakes Way.
Shock Weapon Used in Daylight Attack
PC Tara Plaister warned: “This incident would have caused people present to fear for their safety.” She added, “Carrying a knife in public is a criminal offence and we’re committed to bringing those involved to justice.”
The terrifying unprovoked attack alarmed the driver and passengers inside the vehicle, leaving the community shaken.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Footage
- Residents in the area at the time are urged to check for dashcam or mobile video footage.

- Parents who recognise the teens or their clothing from that day are especially encouraged to come forward.
PC Plaister made a heartfelt plea: “You’re far more likely to be stabbed if you carry a knife. Do the right thing – help protect your kids by telling us if you think they are involved.”
Wiltshire Police have made it clear: incidents like this will not be tolerated.
