Speed demons caught red-handed on Ashford and Sittingbourne Roads!

Speed Checks Snap Up Five Speedsters

On Wednesday 16 February 2022, Maidstone Community Policing Team slammed the brakes on fast drivers with targeted speed checks on Ashford Road and Sittingbourne Road.

Five vehicles were pulled over and their drivers hit with reports for tearing along well above the 30mph speed limit.

Inspector Warns: Slow Down or Face the Consequences

Inspector Steve Kent of the Maidstone Community Safety Unit said, “Local officers have noted concerns raised by communities about vehicles failing to slow down as they enter the town.”

“While most motorists kept within the limit, some were clocked doing a reckless 40mph to 50mph.”

“These speeds endanger schoolchildren and other pedestrians. Drivers must remember their responsibility to protect others on the roads.”

Residents Urged to Stay Alert

The police are keeping a keen eye on these hotspots, urging motorists to slow down and keep the streets safe for families and kids on their way to school.
