Brutal Peckham Attack: Man Left Fighting for Life After Gang Assault

Masked youths launch vicious midnight brawl

Police are hunting witnesses after a 50-year-old man was left with serious injuries following a savage group attack in Peckham Rye Park. The shocking assault unfolded at around 9.15pm on Friday, 22 August, when a gang of 8-10 balaclava-clad youths ambushed the victim as he walked home with a friend.

Horrific injuries, chilling threats

Relatives revealed the victim endured four fractured ribs, a partially collapsed lung, a broken nose, and eye injuries after being pinned down, punched, and kicked repeatedly. Witnesses say the thugs filmed the brutal attack while making chilling stabbing threats. The gang then fled roughly ten minutes later towards an exit onto Colyton Road, near Honor Oak Park.

Not a mugging – just ruthless violence

Family members stressed this was not a robbery — the victim’s phone and belongings were untouched. The vicious assault appears to have been random and unprovoked.
