Tragedy struck last night at the junction of Morecambe Road and Longton Drive when a pedestrian was fatally hit by a car.

84-Year-Old Woman Killed in Morecambe Road Crash

Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 9.15pm on Monday, November 14, after an Audi Quattro A4 collided with an 84-year-old woman walking near the Bay Gateway.

The elderly pedestrian, from Morecambe, sadly suffered fatal injuries at the scene.

Driver Arrested Over Deadly Crash

The Audi driver, a 32-year-old man from Heysham, escaped without injuries. However, he was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drug driving. He remains in police custody.

Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward

Sgt Craig Booth, Lancashire Police’s Tactical Operations Unit: “These are very tragic and sad circumstances and our thoughts are with the lady and her family at this time. While we have made an arrest, we are keen to speak to anyone with information, who saw what happened or who may have dashcam footage which can help with our enquiries.”
