Historic Rushton Home Fire Kills Three in Shocking Tragedy

A horrific blaze tore through a Grade II-listed former station master’s house near Kettering on Friday night, claiming three lives and devastating the quiet village of Rushton.

Emma Conn, 30, her four-year-old daughter Mayci Fox, and 23-year-old Louie Thorn were tragically killed in the inferno. A fourth person was rushed to hospital with injuries.

Fire Ravages Renovated 19th-Century Home

The fire erupted at around 10.30pm at the historic property on Beswick Close. Once derelict, the 19th-century building had recently been lovingly restored into a family home worth around £300,000.

Emergency crews battled the flames, but a huge hole was left burned through the roof, leaving the house severely damaged.

Community in Mourning Over Tragic Loss

The close-knit village is reeling. Reverend Andy Giles of All Saints Church led emotional prayers during a Mothering Sunday service, calling the event “extremely shocking and saddening.” The church stayed open all day to offer solace.

“It was a complete inferno, impossible to escape from,” said neighbour Barbara. “Our hearts go out to the families.”

Floral tributes have been left near the scene, while locals express disbelief and deep grief over the loss of Emma, Mayci, and Louie.

Police Investigate as Man Released

Northamptonshire Police initially arrested a 54-year-old man on suspicion of murder. He has since been released with no evidence of criminal intent found.

Chief Inspector Paul Cash extended condolences to the victims’ families and praised emergency responders and locals who tried to help. A thorough investigation continues with specialist fire investigators and sniffer dogs on site.

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service continued dampening the site throughout Saturday as the inquiry proceeds.

Tributes Pour in for Victims

On social media, family members paid heartfelt tributes. One wrote “Forever 23” in memory of Louie Thorn. Emma, a local salon worker, was remembered as kind and caring; the salon canceled appointments out of respect.

Mayci’s great-grandmother voiced her heartbreak: “I have lost my great-granddaughter and her mum. It is just so sad.”

Mike Brightman, vice chairman of Rushton Parish Council, called the tragedy “a very sad day for the village” and pledged support to grieving families. Local pub workers described the village atmosphere as “distraught” and “traumatised.”

The community mourns as investigators work to uncover the cause of the devastating fire that robbed Rushton of three beloved lives.
